About Flat Earth Society meets Jimi Tenor
The Fin Jimi Tenor (whose real name is Lassi Lehto) is almost as
extravagant as his great idol, Sun Ra. In 1994 the keyboard player
had a techno hit with Take Me Baby and he recorded his first CD in
his kitchen. Later, for his masterpiece Out of Nowhere, he worked
with a large Polish symphony orchestra and then intensively
processed the recordings on the computer. In recent years, Tenor
seems to have grown into musical maturity as a whimsical, thinking
out-of-the-box, European artist. His music ranges from swinging
jazz to soul and from Frank Zappa-esque rock to afro beats.
Combined with the Belgian big band Flat Earth Society a special
experience is assured. With his band, clarinetist and saxophonist
Peter Vermeersch is also at home in various musical genres. Film
scores, funk, swing, mambo, Latin, cabaret, chansons, free jazz and
R&B are brought together ingeniously. Vermeersch allows the
music to flow in all directions with his band the Flat Earth
Society that consists of members of the now defunct Belgian bands
Fukkeduk and X-Legged Sally.
