About Alicia Keys *

On her latest album As I Am, Alicia Keys sings about love in all its forms. The singer has the rare talent of remaining positive and seeing solutions for all problems. With her extraordinary powerful voice, Keys remains a remarkable talent who seems to have come from nowhere and overwhelmed everyone with her intense interpretations at the piano. This sensational musical prodigy is capable of combining the genuine soul of bygone days with today's soul, R&B and hip-hop. Keys, the daughter of an Italian mother and Jamaican father, was born and raised in New York where she studied at the Professional Performance Arts School. She studied classical music (Mozart, Beethoven) and jazz (Oscar Peterson) and learned about the essence of black soul (Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway). As I Am was her third studio album. She debuted in 2001 with the multi-award winning Songs in Minor (2001), followed two years later by The Diary of Alicia Keys. In 2005 she released the live album Alicia Keys - Unplugged.
