About Alain Clark
At an early age singer-songwriter and producer Alain Clark (born
in Haarlem, The Netherlands) went to Los Angeles to gain
experience. Upon his return, he produced albums for Boris and Ali
B, among others, and scored small hits with Heerlijk and Ringtone,
that can be found on his Dutch debut pop album Alain Clark. His
recent return to classic soul however, is what makes Clark truly
happy at the moment. The music on his new CD Live it Out, following
the example of legendary soul stars like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder
and a young Michael Jackson, fits him like the proverbial glove.
His light-brown voice allows Clark to be sultry and dark as well as
funky and rousing; it has a pleasing sound and his delivery is very
credible. Songs like This Ain't Gonna Work sound experienced and
powerful, whereas the duet with his father portrays their father
and son relationship warmly. A remarkable fact about Clark is that
he has worked with one of the world's best drummers, Steve Gadd
(famous for his work with Steely Dan, Paul Simon and James Taylor).
At the end of 2007 Clark made a definitive breakthrough which was
marked by his winning of a Rembrandt Award as well as the Megaward
2007.
