Dynamics!
Besides music, the art exhibitions form an important element of the North Sea Jazz Festival. This year, the organization has again made a beautiful selection.
What’s more dynamic than improvised music? World-wide, many artists are touched by jazz and related genres. For the 2013 North Sea Jazz art shows, Music Inspired Art has selected artists that absorb the dynamics of jazz in their own way. They will present their photos, paintings and objects or will contribute to the show with live paintings which will make this years’ exhibition more
dynamic than ever.
This year special attention is paid to the work of drummer and artist Han Bennink, the world famous wizard with brushes and sticks. From Italy, Massimo Choccia and his wife Olga Tsarkova will present their paintings and jazz collages.
Photographer Jelmer de Haas will exhibit his music photos in the Mekong Room, together with Bennink’s objects and drawings and the poster designs made by students of the Willem de Kooning Art Academy in Rotterdam. Live painting sessions by Easton Davy (USA), Art Is A Battlefi eld (Anne Mercedes Langhorst and Nadia van Luijk) and hiphop artist DEES will fuel up the heat and Guusje Kaayk will make her iPad drawings while musicians are rocking the stage.
